Thunderstorm to Stall Over Some Parts of Region Soon

We're on quite a weather roll as Wednesday marks the fourth warm dry day in a row.

There is a subtle change occurring though. On Wednesday, we have a weak front across the state of Maine with somewhat cooler air in eastern Maine pushing in from the northeast. That means a there is a boundary up against warm and slightly humid air across the rest of New England.

This boundary generates thicker clouds and a chance of a shower from New Hampshire to southern Maine and northeastern Massachusetts. Otherwise, it's another warm day with high temperatures close to 90 degrees, cooler at the ocean. We will still have some smoke in the sky from the fires in Ontario.

In the Gulf of Mexico, low pressure is strengthening with tropical storm Barry, possibly becoming a hurricane close to the coast of Louisiana in the next 48 hours. That deep tropical moisture is going to stay well south of New England.

However, we do have a front from the Midwest that will bring in showers and thunderstorms Thursday and especially early Friday.

Low temperatures Wednesday night will mostly be in the 60s with the dew point coming up. Fog is likely especially near the ocean. On Thursday, we start mostly cloudy, then will have sunny breaks with a few showers and a thunderstorm from the front that stalls here on Wednesday.

Then late in the day, the front from western New York will generate some heavier thunderstorms in western Massachusetts and Vermont around sunset. High temperature tomorrow in the 80s.

The front from New York will move slowly west to east across New England Thursday night, with low pressure developing on the front that may enhance rainfall in parts of New England. We may see downpours intense enough for spotty flash flood warnings early Friday.

After a partial clearing, we may see another round of showers and storms Friday afternoon, the most sticky day of the week with high humidity, and high temperature in the 80s.

That front should ease offshore Saturday, taking most of the humidity with it. However, it will leave some heat, with sunshine Saturday should get close to 90 degrees.

Another weak front from Canada may bring a shower or thunderstorm to parts of western and northern New England Sunday. Otherwise, it will be another nice day with a high temperature in the 80s. Looks like a pretty good weekend, too!
