‘Horrific': Man Killed at Home Died From Severe Blood Loss, Officials Say

A man found in a home in Marshfield, Massachusetts, died from severe blood loss, prosecutors said in a press conference Thursday afternoon.

The body of 43-year-old Robert McKenna was found Wednesday at his home at 190 Damon Point Rd. Investigators discovered "significant blood loss throughout the home," according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

An autopsy was performed on McKenna, and the cause of death was determined to be exsanguination. Cruz said the death was a result of injuries to his upper extremities.

Investigators are interviewing people who knew McKenna. One man, who would identify himself only as Bill, says the victim had a collection of expensive animal trophies and guns. He wonders if that led to his untimely death.

"He let it be known that he had lots of possessions that other people might want," Bill said.

McKenna's body was found Wednesday afternoon in his Marshfield home. Investigators say he was killed and possibly robbed.

"I believe that there were things in the home that they were looking for," said Cruz.

Cruz says McKenna was likely killed early Wednesday morning. Neighbors woke to commotion at his house, including his two dogs barking.

McKenna's body was discovered around 4:30 p.m. by a friend.

"Upon arrival, that man found and police subsequently found a horrific scene at that home which included significant blood loss throughout the home," said Cruz.

The medical examiner has issued a preliminary cause of death, saying McKenna died of extreme blood loss due to injuries on his upper extremities. The way in which he died has not yet been revealed.

Investigators believe one or more people may have been involved in McKenna's death.

"I think he had at least one enemy," said a neighbor.

The victim in this case appears to have been the target and the public is not in any danger.
