Authorities Investigating Fatal Attleboro, Mass. Crash

One person died and four others were injured following a motor vehicle accident in Attleboro, Massachusetts. (Published Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019)

Two people are dead and three other people were injured following an overnight car crash on Interstate 95 in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

State police say a 2018 Kia Soul rear-ended a 2007 Hyundai GST at about 1:25 a.m. on I-95 southbound near exit 3. The crash trapped backseat passengers in the Hyundai.

One of the Hyundai's passengers, 23-year-old Maryori Conde, of Los Angeles, was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital where she died. The sole occupant of the Kia, 28-year-old Sean St. Louis, of Providence, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say it appears the Kia was driving at a high rate of speed in the right lane when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the Hyundai. Officials are investigating what caused the driver of the Kia to lose control.

The Hyundai was carrying five people, officials said, and that a 23-year-old man from Berwyn, Illinois, a 23-year-old man from Providence, Rhode Island, and a 27-year-old man from Daly City, California, were all hospitalized following the crash.

The current conditions of the surviving victims were not immediately clear.

All southbound lanes were closed as authorities assessed the scene, but were reopened just before 5 a.m.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
