A 25-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly carjacked another man at gunpoint in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Police received a call shortly after midnight of a man knocking on doors on Laurel Street and saying his car had just been stolen. At the scene, officials encountered the barefoot victim, who was described as nervous and shaken.
The victim told police that his Honda Accord, which belonged to his friend, was taken at gunpoint when he was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Middle Street and Broad Street. He said a "heavy set male" unexpectedly opened the door on his driver’s side and brandished a firearm.
The suspect, who was identified as 25-year-old Jacob Garvin, allegedly asked the victim if he wanted to die and demanded he get out of the vehicle. Police say the suspect then exited the car and reported that an Infinity G was parked directly behind him in the travel lane and had its lights off.
Officers patrolling the area found an Infinity G being followed by a Honda Accord and attempted to yield the vehicles because of the similarities in the stolen vehicle report. Police say only the Honda stopped and the Infinity continued to travel on the northbound lanes of Route 3, prompting a brief pursuit.
After the pursuit, Garvin, told police he was given $80 in cash by a man named Johnny G-Town to drive the Honda Accord to the Quincy Adams MBTA station.
Garvin was taken to the Weymouth Police Station, where he was charged with armed carjacking, assault by means of a dangerous weapon to with a firearm, threats to murder, larceny of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police and speeding.

A future date for Garvin’s arraignment has not been announced. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
