Police: 1 Dead After Drunk Driver Runs Through Red Light, Hits Truck

A woman was killed and a man is in critical condition a car ran a red light Sunday night, police in Massachusetts confirm.

Police in Beverly confirm the accident happened just after 9 p.m. on Route 1A at Elliott and Rantoul streets, when a 2013 Cadillac SRX ran through a red light at the intersection, hitting a 2000 Ford 150.

The passenger in the Cadillac, a 45-year-old woman, was taken to Beverly Hospital, where she was pronounced dead; the driver of the Ford, a 48-year-old man, was also taken to Beverly Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police have arrested and charged the driver of the Cadillac, 31-year-old Todd Porter of Beverly, with OUI, OUI causing serious bodily harm and motor vehicle homicide while OUI, along with speeding, open container and unliscened operation charges.

Porter was taken to Beverly Hospital with leg and back injuries.

He will be arraigned at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts at 2:30 P.M. on Monday.
