6-Year-Old Killed in Crash Remembered as ‘Sweet, Kind and Gentle'

Family friends, neighbors and classmates came together Wednesday to share memories and say farewell to a young Massachusetts boy tragically killed in a pedestrian crash over the weekend.

Six-year-old Eddie Thomson was walking with his father and sister Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Pond Street and Lakeshore Drive. He and his father, Rob, were hit by a car. Both were hospitalized, and Eddie passed away Tuesday morning.

"He was a special boy,” said neighbor Samantha Watson. "He was always smiling, I have memories of him walking up the street with his dad in their matching Superman shirts, he was just a kind little boy."

At Wednesday night's candlelight vigil outside Eddie's elementary school, the first grader was remembered as being wise beyond his years, able to solve difficult math problems. He loved Skittles.

"Eddie was sweet, kind and gentle," said family friend Deana Neimann. "He loved Marvel and Spiderman and rock collecting, and playing soccer, he loved his dog Sammy, and especially his beautiful sister."

Eddie's sister wasn't hurt in the crash, but his father is in the hospital and has a long road to recovery. The boy's organs are being donated, and a GoFundMe page has been set up in an effort to raise $200,000 to support the Thompson family.
