Last week, a community meeting was held at 69 L Street to discuss potential changes coming to the building. The owner of the old Tasty Burger building is proposing a change of occupancy from restaurant with takeout to restaurant with takeout and seating for 35 people, beer, wine, music and TV.
They are also proposing two residential condos by renovating existing structure to provide additional food service area and erect a vertical addition on top of existing structure for 2 residential units. 749-749A East Broadway: Combine parcels and become one lot. Then subdivide into two lots. Occupancy to remain the same.
About 35 people were in attendance at the meeting to learn more about proposal and express suggestions, concerns, and more. Concerns about the proposal ranged from traffic, double-parking, and noise.
To address noise concerns, the owner of the building stated via email that he would ensure the windows would be closed by 9 p.m. every night.
The proposal will be sent to the Zoning Board of Appeals and a hearing will be held most likely in September. If you would like to show your support or opposition of this project, you are encouraged to reach out to Haley Dillon, Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services via email here.
