7 Displaced in Boston Fire

Seven people were displaced in a fire in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.

Investigators say a planter being used as an ashtray is to blame for the blaze at 95 Child St.

All of the residents of the 3-family home got out safely and no one was injured.

Officials estimate about $100,000 in damage.

Boston Fire was notified about the fire just three minutes after receiving a call for another fire in the nearby Roxbury neighborhood. That blaze, which hit the top floor and roof of a 4-story brownstone on Fort Avenue, reached three alarms.

The American Red Cross of Massachusetts is assisting the displaced residents.
