A 9-year-old boy was airlifted Tuesday after being pulled from the Androscoggin River in Maine; his 5-year-old brother, who also fell into the water, remains missing.
According to News Center Maine, crews responded around 7 p.m. after reports that the chilldren had fallen into the river. Firefighters from Auburn pulled the 9-year-old out and he was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center.
Responders continued to search for about three hours Tuesday night for the 5-year-old. The search was reportedly called off due to hazardous river conditions.
The children have not been publicly identified, but police told News Center Maine their parents had been notified.
