Coast Guard: Cruise Ship Passenger Flown to Hospital

A woman suffering from what appeared to be a heart attack had to be flown via helicopter from the cruise ship she was on Thursday night, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed.

The 70-year-old passenger was suffering from heart attack symptoms just around 9:20 p.m., and a crewmember from the Norwegian Gem contacted the Coast Guard in Boston.

A crew flying a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter left the Coast Guard Air Station on Cape Cod just after 9:30 p.m., and reached the cruise ship, which was about 40 miles east of Cape Ann, before 11:30 p.m.

The woman and a nurse from the cruise ship boarded the helicopter, which took them to Massachusetts General Hospital.

There's no word on the passenger's condition.
