Man Convicted in 1993 Murder of Boston Police Detective Released on Bail

A man convicted in the 1993 killing of a Boston police detective has been released on $50,000 bail.

Sean Ellis has been imprisoned for over 22 years in the shooting death of Detective John Mulligan.

Ellis and another man were convicted of killing Mulligan as he slept in his car outside of an all-night pharmacy.

A judge granted Ellis a fourth trial last month after learning that investigators withheld information.

No date has been set for the new trial in the Ellis case.
