The suspect in an attempted bank robbery was arraigned Friday in Boston.
Fifty-one-year-old Richard Cassano is accused of trying to rob the City of Boston Credit Union Thursday in West Roxbury.
Police say a detail officer foiled the attempt when she refused to surrender her firearm to the suspect.
She grabbed the suspect and his shopping bag, fearing a weapon could be inside, and chased him out of the credit union. He was apprehended in front of a nearby restaurant in a red sedan.
Cassano, a Dorchester resident, was ordered held on $75,000 bail.
