Ex-Mass. State Police Union President Pleads Not Guilty

Dana Pullman pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, fraud, obstruction of justice and tax crimes

The former president of the Massachusetts State Police union charged with misusing union funds pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of racketeering, fraud, obstruction of justice and tax crimes

Dana Pullman, of Worcester, also wants permission to speak with longtime friends, including two witnesses in the case.

Pullman's attorney, Martin Weinberg, filed a motion to allow the 57-year-old Pullman to speak to current and former state police union executive board members, including two witnesses in the case — as long as the case isn't discussed.

Weinberg told a judge it's unlikely Pullman would discuss the case because it would be "self-destructive."

Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil Gallagher told the judge it would be difficult to monitor the conversations.

The Boston Herald reports the judge has taken the motion under advisement.
