Heavy Rain Returns Thursday

We remained under cloud cover and humidity on this Wednesday. The clouds and fog will continue to thicken for our overnight forecast, with the chance for a spot shower and lows in the 60s.

Heavy rainfall is expected to move in for Thursday, though the heaviest rain is expected to be Thursday night into Friday morning.

A couple systems move through before we clear everything out this weekend. First, a warm front lifts northward Thursday afternoon, and will sit across New England and this is where we could see flooding rainfall potential and thunderstorms. The warm front may stall just over the Massachusetts Turnpike, or it could lift farther north with many rainfall accumulation options in between.

Prepare for a rainy day Thursday across New England. We may see some drier hours across southeastern New England in the afternoon. A center of low pressure moves through central New England Thursday night into Friday morning and sweeps a cold front through.

The latest forecast models show 0.5” to 1.5” of rainfall widespread Thursday into Friday, with a band of 1-3” of rainfall. However, that band may meander farther north or south so we will update you on that situation as soon as possible.

High pressure settles in across the northeast for Friday night, into the weekend! A northwest breeze ushers in the drier air as highs reach the upper 70s.

More sunshine is in the picture for Sunday with highs in the mid 80s! We look to stay dry until Tuesday when a more humid airmass sets up, helping to trigger pop up showers and storms in the afternoons next week. We're not expecting any washouts with the rain though. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s all next week.
