Infant Dies in NH, Sparking Investigation

An autopsy was completed Monday by New Hampshire's Chief Medical Examiner but the cause and manner of the baby's death is being withheld

Officials in New Hampshire say they are investigating the untimely death of an infant in Claremont.

The death was announced Sunday afternoon in a news release from the office of State Attorney General Gordon MacDonald.

Police had responded to a residence on Winter Street at 7:40 a.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call, the attorney general's office said.

When officers arrived, they found 7-day-old Samara Hutnick in medical distress. The baby was taken to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead, MacDonald's office said.

An autopsy was completed Monday by New Hampshire's Chief Medical Examiner but authorities said the cause and manner of death are being withheld pending further investigation.
