Man, 72, Dies After Kayakers Find Him Unconscious Off Beach In Duxbury

A 72-year-old man died Monday hours after kayakers found him in distress in the water off Shipyard Lane Beach in Duxbury, Massachusetts, according to the Plymouth District Attorney's office.

The man was spotted unconscious by two kayakers who called for help at about 12:20 p.m., according to Duxbury fire officials.

"There were several bystanders that were on kayaks and paddleboards. They were able to get this individual from the water, about 100 yards off shore, to a beach, where CPR was conducted, until rescue units got on scene," Duxbury Police Chief Stephen McDonald said.

The man was believed to have been swimming.
