A man was stabbed outside of Boston's North Station on Saturday and a suspect has been taken into custody, police said.

Officers responded to the area of 135 Causeway Street around 5:45 p.m. and found a man suffering from an apparent stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, later identified as Michael Lorenzana, 44, of West Roxbury, was seen running down Haverhill Street toward Valenti Way after the stabbing, police said. Lorenzana was arrested and charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

In the course of their investigation, officers discovered a discarded folding-box cutter in a trash can at the corner of Valenti Way and Canal Street.

According to police, the victim and suspect know each other.

Lorenzana is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court. It's unclear if he has obtained an attorney.
