Man Killed in 2-Alarm House Fire in Waltham

A man was killed in a 2-alarm house fire Monday in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Fire officials rushed into the home at 32 Rumford Ave. and pulled the victim out.

The man, who has not been identified, was trapped on the third floor where the flames first broke out, according to the fire department.

"It appears the bulk of the fire was in the room across from where he was so he was experiencing heavy heat, heavy smoke," Waltham Fire Chief Tom Macinnis said.

The victim's brother was also inside the home at the time of the fire, but he made it out OK. He reportedly tried to help save his brother but couldn't get past the flames.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.

The Massachusetts Fire Marshal's Office responded, and the fire is under investigation.
