New video: Woman injured, 2 arrested after carjacked SUV crashes into vehicle in Lynn

Police say a woman was injured and two people were taken into custody after a stolen SUV crashed into another vehicle on Tuesday morning in Lynn, Massachusetts.

The incident began around 7:15 a.m. when Lynn police said they attempted to stop a stolen SUV that was believed to have been involved in a recent carjacking incident, but the vehicle fled. Seconds later, they said the SUV collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Chestnut and Essex streets.

One person in the second vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries, and two suspects were taken into custody, according to police.

The driver, who police say is a juvenile from Haverhill, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving and related charges. His passenger, identified as 22-year-old Leanna Rockwood, a Boston resident, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and other charges.

Aerial footage showed a black SUV with heavy front end damage and a second, white car with extensive damage as well.

Surveillance footage showed a foot chase ongoing involving police.

Police say the stolen vehicle was taken during an armed carjacking on Monday, around 8 p.m. The victim told police he was approached by a masked man who stole his car at gunpoint.

The investigation is ongoing.
