1 Person Dead After Triple Shooting Outside Fall River Bar

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. outside JC's Cafe in Fall River

A shooting outside a Massachusetts bar has left one person dead and two others injured.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says the shooting happened just after 10 p.m. Friday outside JC's Cafe in Fall River.

Police swarmed the restaurant's parking lot where they found several motorcycles and a 39-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. He died Saturday morning at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Two other people, a 37-year-old Fall River man and a 23-year-old man from Bridgewater, were also taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Authorities say both are stable and expected to survive.

Neighbors say a biker brawl broke out and then seconds later there were gunshots.

"I heard a noise and thought it was fireworks or something and I looked outside and saw a bunch of guys brawling," Fall River resident Sandro Semedo said.

Semedo took video from his apartment across the street that shows several men and women fighting in the parking lot going so far as swinging their helmets at one another. Semedo says he saw bikers scatter and race off, which is when he went closer to see if everything was okay.

"And I went over there to see what happened and I can see a guy just slowly gasping for air and everything and he was just slowly taking his last breath...and it was just sad to see and you don’t expect that to see," Semedo said. "I was trying to put my kid asleep how can I come back to that?"

Several neighbors say they see bikers stop into JC's Cafe regularly and it's not unusual for them to rev their bikes before they take off but they've never heard gunshots ring out.

"I don't think anyone should be afraid to come here," regular John Luz said. "It's a really good place."

But Dolores Amaral says even though the shooting did not happen inside JC's that the bar brings a lot of noise and riff raff to her neighborhood.

"I can't have this anymore," said Amaral who suggested they should shut the place down.

Amaral was outside smoking a cigarette when it all went down Friday night. She says she saw a fight break out and minutes later heard the sound of gunshots.

"I've been living around here since 1991 and I haven't seen anything like this before," she said.

While the neighborhood was surprised by this brutal act of violence, their hope now is that a suspect is caught.

"I just hope they find the guy who did it because...somebody didn’t go home to their family last night and that’s the sad part," Semedo said.

No arrests had been made Saturday and police did not say what may have led to the shooting or how many shots were fired.

The names of the victims have not been released.

The shooting remains under investigation.
