Danielle Waugh covers the state of Maine for necn, and joined the team in April 2015. She is thrilled to be working and living in the state where she has built her broadcasting career.
Before joining necn, Danielle worked for WCSH in Portland, where she was first a Lewiston/Auburn bureau reporter, then a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor out of the Portland newsroom. Before that, she worked at WLBZ in Bangor as a general assignment reporter. She has covered many of the major headlines out of Maine in the last several years: the disappearance of toddler Ayla Reynolds, the fatal haunted hayride accident in Mechanic Falls, and the deadly Noyes Street fire that killed six people in Portland. Her coverage of a string of arsons in Lewiston that left hundreds of residents homeless in 2013 led to an award for continuing coverage from the Maine Association of Broadcasters.
Danielle grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, called Greensburg. She remains a loyal Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan, despite living in New England! She is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she earned degrees in broadcast journalism and American history.
When she’s not out reporting in the field, Danielle can be found exploring Maine by bike. Her favorite hobby is riding the Eastern Trail in coastal Southern Maine.
