    Forecast: Sunny, Highs Around 40

    Sunny, highs around 40.

Overnight Tuesday: Mostly clear, temperatures hold steady then rise through the 40s.

After a hard freeze overnight and early this morning, temperatures are rebounding to seasonable, or just a bit warmer than seasonable averages this afternoon.

The exception is in northern Maine where temperatures are in the 20s and low 30s, otherwise we are well into the 40s with parts of southern New England reaching 50 degrees this afternoon.

We have varying amounts of clouds, with a breeze from the south at 10 to 20 mph, due to high pressure moving east of the region.

A cold front from Canada advances into Northern New England tonight, with increasing clouds and a chance of a showers in the north by morning, low temperature in the 30s north, to near 40 degrees south.

That weak front crosses New England tomorrow with a mixture of sun and clouds, but mostly dry weather. High temperatures in the 40s north and well into the 50s south.

High pressure from Canada gives us seasonably cold weather tomorrow night with temperatures falling back down to the 20s, and rebounding into the 40s on Thursday.

Clouds will increase Thursday afternoon as a weather system that brought rain and snow to California yesterday, brings a period of rain to New England later Thursday night and part of Friday.

Rain may change to snow showers in the mountains with temperatures on Friday mostly in the 40s.

Optimistically, the outlook for our weekend is for a storm intensifying well to our east keeping us on the dry side with a chilly wind from the northwest and temperatures in the 30s north to 40s south for Saturday and Sunday.
