    Sun Sunday Before More Rain

More rain will ring in the New Year.

    (Published Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018)

A wet 2018 will end on a soggy note on New Year’s Eve. In Boston, it rained 0.01 inches or more on 142 days, which is nearly 40 percent of the year.

Hartford, Connecticut recorded its third-greatest number of “wet” days, which totaled 149.

Worcester had the same number of rainy days, which put it in the ninth spot.

Manchester, New Hampshire also came with a top ten spot with 140 “rainy days.”

Boston, so far, has recorded its 11th wettest year on record — it would only take 0.20 inches of rain to tie the 10th spot.

With 62.03 inches so far in 2018, Hartford has recorded its fifth wettest year on record.

Our wet weather looks to return Monday evening. Expect the rain to begin across western New England by late afternoon and around dinner time closer to the coast.

Unfortunately, how the forecast currently stands, the rain will impact your First Night Plans.

Dress for a chilly rain as temperatures stay in the 40s. There could be some frozen precipitation to start, but it should quickly change to rain.

The first day of 2019 looks mild. Temperatures should reach the low to mid 50s. Seasonable weather will return by Wednesday. Unsettled weather will help end the week with a wintry mix changing to rain.

Next weekend looks mainly dry and seasonably chilly. The first full week of 2019 could start off much colder and snowier. Stay tuned!
