    1 Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Tree on Cape Cod

    One person was killed in a single vehicle accident on Route 6A near Mary Dunn Road in Barnstable, Massachusetts. The accident happened around 3:00 AM Monday (06-01-15) morning. The vehicle crashed into a tree and rolled onto its side. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A section of Route 6A was shut down for several hours as police reconstructed the accident scene. Barnstable Police are investigating the accident. (Photo by David G. Curran)

    Authorities confirm one person has died after a crashing a vehicle into a tree on Cape Cod overnight.

    Police in Barnstable, Massachusetts, say it happened around 3 a.m. Monday on Route 6A near Mary Dunn Road, where a vehicle hit a tree and rolled onto its side.

    The driver, David A. Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was a student at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

    Details of funeral arrangments will be released when determined.

    The investigation is ongoing.
