Boston Authorities Empathize With Dallas Police After Attack

Gunfire rang out overnight in Dallas near the police headquarters. Cell phone video captured a man driving an armored type vehicle, ramming it into police cruisers, coming close to injuring officers on foot.

"We believe this suspect meant to kill officers and took time to discharge that weapon multiple times to accomplish their wanting to harm our officers," said Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown.

The gunman, identified as James Boulware, was killed by snipers, but multiple explosive devices were found around police headquarters and the armored type vehicle.

This attack is one of many recent ones targeting police officers across the country. Officer Kerrie Orozco from Omaha, Nebraska, was shot and killed a day before the start of her maternity leave. FBI agents and Boston Police took down Usaamah Rahim, and two others have been arrested in alleged terrorist attack against Boston Police.

"We're under the gun. People are taking out their frustrations and whatnot at us and, you know, we don't deserve it," said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. "We work hard every day, we're doing the best we can to make not only Boston safe, but all over this country."

Police officers sign up to serve and protect the community, putting their lives on the line every day. These type of attacks scare Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

"These police officers are family men, they have kids, they have wives, they have husbands, they have children," he said. "I'm asking them to be very careful."
