A Boston police officer has resigned after being accused of making a false statement to the FBI.
Officer David Fitzgerald, a 19-year veteran of the department, submitted his resignation on Thursday as part of a plea agreement filed in federal court. Fitzgerald was charged with making a false statement to investigators during an unspecified, on-going investigation.
There will be a joint recommendation to the court that Fitzgerald will be placed on as part of the plea agreement.
