    Pedestrian Hit in Fitchburg

    A pedestrian was airlifted after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

    Police confirm a male victim was hit near Burger King on John Fitch Highway around 5:30 p.m., according to city fire officials. He suffered fractures and internal injuries.

    The victim was taken by medical helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. His injuries are serious, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

    The driver remained at the scene.
