A Floating Restaurant May Be Coming to the Charlestown Navy Yard

by Marc Hurwitz

Boston may soon be getting a new restaurant that would literally be located on the water.

According to an article from boston.com, the Boston Planning & Development Agency and Mayor Marty Walsh have approved of plans to have a temporary floating restaurant set up within a tall ship at the Charlestown Navy Yard. The post mentions that the Navy Yard Hospitality Group would operate the dining spot, which would open this summer and be part of Imagine Boston 2030, a citywide initiative that, for Charlestown, would include free outdoor programming from the USS Constitution Museum, a temporary gathering space for the general public, and the floating restaurant.

The Navy Yard Hospitality Group is behind a few local restaurants, including Pier 6 in Charlestown, ReelHouse in East Boston (and a second location coming to Quincy),  and Mija at Faneuil Hall.
