Woman Accused of Leaving Injured 10-Year-Old at Crash Scene

Cecilia Miranda is accused of leaving a 10-year-old boy at the scene of an alleged OUI crash in Revere

An alleged OUI driver accused of abandoning a child at the scene of a rollover crash will not face a judge Monday morning.

Cecilia Miranda, 37, of Revere, Massachusetts, was arrested shortly after midnight Sunday after her red Nissan Kicks rolled over while traveling on Route 16 near Route 1 in Revere, according to state police.

Authorities received calls of the single-vehicle crash from witnesses who reported the driver fled the scene in a bystander's vehicle with one child and left behind an older child. The older child, a 10-year-old boy, was taken to an area hospital by another bystander.

State police found Miranda and the younger child, a 6-year-old boy, at Massachusetts General Hospital and arrested the woman. Officials at East Boston Neighborhood Healthcare Center reported to authorities that the older boy was dropped off in their care.

Both children suffered severe, but non-life threatening injuries, according to state police. The relationship between the suspect and two children is unclear.

Miranda is facing a series of charges that include OUI and two counts of child endangerment while operating under the influence. She was bailed and released on Sunday.

Miranda was expected to be arraigned at Chelsea District Court on Monday; however, it's unclear when she'll be formally arraigned. It's also unclear if she has an attorney.
