Ghost Ship Harbor Closed This Weekend Following Small Fire

A popular Halloween attraction in Massachusetts will be closed this weekend as crews repair damage from a fire earlier this week.

Ghost Ship Harbor said on its website that the fire broke out early Wednesday morning aboard the USS Salem, which serves as the attraction's home during the month of October at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy.

The fire was extinguished by staff members before Quincy firefighters arrived, according to officials.

No one was injured.

"Damage from the fire was minimal and largely restricted to the exterior facade to one of our haunt attractions," Ghost Ship Harbor said.

Because of the fire, however, the attraction will be closed this weekend as city inspectors check out the damage and repairs are made.

Tickets for this weekend will be honored for any other operating date.

Ghost Ship Harbor bills itself as the only haunted house attraction on the East Coast that takes place on a Navy ship. It consists of three haunted houses plus a paranormal experience.
