Raynham School Bus Driver Due in Court After Child Suffers Medical Emergency in June

A school bus driver who reportedly failed to conduct routine safety checks the day a student was found suffering from a seizure will appear in court Tuesday.

Christy Hathaway, 60, of Middleborough, Massachusetts is expected to be arraigned at Taunton District Court as she faces a charge of reckless endangerment of a child under 18, according to Raynham Police Chief James Donovan.

The incident happened June 4 in front of Laliberte Elementary School in Raynham, when Hathaway allegedly failed to drop off a student at his bus stop. Concerned for the child's safety, the student’s stepfather followed the school bus route and spoke with Hathaway in front of the school, the Brockton Enterprise reports.

The defendant then reportedly checked inside the vehicle and found the child unconscious. He was taken to a Boston hospital by medical helicopter and has since been released from the hospital.

It is unclear if Hathaway has an attorney to represent her on Tuesday.
