Forecast: Mostly Cloudy With Patchy Fog

Mostly cloudy with some patchy fog by the coastline. Lows near 60.

    (Published Saturday, June 17, 2017)

After a soggy night for southeastern Massachusetts with the heavy downpours that impacted that evening commute and a foggy start to our Saturday, the fog and the shower chances dissipate by noon today as highs stretch into the low 70s for Sail Boston. Areas farther inland where we will see more sunshine peek out from the beyond the clouds will have warmer temperatures to the northwest.

A warm front traverses the area this evening, and as it does, it could spur up a few more isolated showers/storms for western New England so be on the lookout during your Saturday evening plans, but not everyone will be impacted by these. Northwestern New England will see the best chances for peeks of sun today with highs stretching to near 80, remaining cloudy and cooler closer to the coastline with highs into the lower 70s.

Sunday, after the warm front clears the area and slides off the coastline, the humidity builds in from the southwest along with the 80 degree-heat for your Father’s Day plans. Highs on Sunday stretch into the low to mid 80s with a slight chance for some thunderstorms into northwestern New England Sunday evening, otherwise, the rest of New England looks dry and humid.

The start of the next work week is unsettled and warm with highs into the 80s with chances for strong thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening with the biggest concern being damaging wind gusts and large hail.

We have continued storm chances Tuesday with the severe threat swinging closer to Boston by Tuesday. The extended outlook into next weekend looks drier with a spotty shower next Saturday and drier conditions by the following Sunday.
