A 70-year-old man was hospitalized Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
Police said the crash took place at the intersection of Boston and Brian roads just after 5 p.m.
When police and firefighters arrived at the scene, the victim was lying in the roadway.
A preliminary investigation showed that the man was walking in a crosswalk when he was struck.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.
Boston Road was closed as police investigated. It was reopened around 11 p.m., police said.
Police said the driver, a 64-year-old man from Chelmsford, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
