Body Recovered in Amherst's Puffer's Pond

Dive teams recovered the body of a man who apparently drowned in Puffer's Pond in Amherst Friday.

Rescue teams responded to the popular swimming hole for a report of a possible drowning at 1:40 p.m. The Daily Hampshire Gazette reported that bystanders had lost sight of a man who was last seen in the middle of the pond.

Emergency personnel closed the area and a dive team was called.

Mary Carey, a communications director for the District Attorney's office, said no foul play was suspected, the paper reports.

The name of the man has not been released.
